Gustavo Páez started his senior career playing in Venezuelan club Academia Emeritense. In 2009 he had a short spell with Peruvian Alianza Lima before returning to his home country to play with Zamora FC, this time in the Venezuelan Primera División. In January 2010 he signed with NK Interblock Ljubljana playing in the Slovenian First League. Páez grabbed a place in the main squad, however the team ended up relegated at the end of the season. In summer 2010 he went to Italy to play with the Serie D club A.S. Union Quinto.[1] In summer 2011 he moved to Spain, more precisely to the Balearic Islands to play with the B team of R.C.D. Mallorca.[2] However, by early September he moves back to Venzuela to his former club Academia Emeritense.[3]
Gustavo Páez was part of the Venezuelan team at the 2007 South American Under 17 Football Championship.
